Conditions of Play

FORMAT OF PLAY
Each Section will play together at a venue, ie playing within your section. The winner of Division 1 will be presented with the Wynn Cup and the winner of Division 2 will be presented with the McDonald Shield. The Divisions will be based on the promotion / relegation method of play, i.e. one side promoted and one side relegated. All games are to consist of 21 ends. Sides playing away shall appoint a Manager who will furnish the names of the skips of the teams to the official at the venue at which the matches are being played and supervise the drawing of the rinks – (By-Law 2.9).

METHOD OF SCORING
Each game will be played in sets of seven ends. 1 point per set won or ½ point per set peeled. 2 points per game won or 1 point per game peeled. The side with the highest net score will receive 2 bonus points. The side with the most points shall be the winner eg 12 points per match. Should adverse weather conditions, or any other valid reason, prevent the completion of 14 ends each side shall be awarded 6 points.

RESERVES OR SUBSTITUTES
Should a player fail to report within ten (10) minutes of the scheduled time for the start of a match or withdraws after the match has commenced, for reasons acceptable to the controlling body, the provisions of Law 39.2.2. of the Laws of the Sport of Bowls shall apply except that the time frame shall be 10 minutes and not 30 minutes. Please note that if a substitute is used then she must be a bona fide member of the club concerned. Should a team be short a player then the team will lose 25% and play 3-3-2.

PLAYERS MAY BE INTER-CHANGED FROM ONE LEAGUE TO ANOTHER.

THE LEAGUES WILL BE PLAYED ON THE FOLLOWING DATES:

ROUND 1 – Saturday 10 June 2023
ROUND 2 – Saturday 24 June 2023
ROUND 3 – Saturday 1 July 2023
ROUND 4 – Saturday 8 July 2023
ROUND 5 – Saturday 15 July 2023

Starting times: Saturday 12h30.
Green Fees are R10.00 per player.

Results must be emailed (competitions@portnatalbowls.co.za) to the Port Natal Bowls office on Monday between 09h00 and 11h00.

NB: PLEASE NOTE THAT EACH SIDE WHICH PLAYS AT HOME SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR NOTIFYING THE RESULTS TO PORT NATAL OFFICE FAILING WHICH IT SHALL INCUR A PENALTY OF ONE POINT WHICH SHALL BE DEDUCTED FROM ITS TOTAL POINTS. – (By- Law 12.9)

Greenkeepers are to be advised that the best rinks must be used and strung for 6 only. Rinks must be 5.0 meters in width (no less than 600mm from the ditch).
