The Full House Club is run in fond memory of the late Ivan and Brenda Southwood for the benefit of underprivileged children to enjoy a holiday at the seaside.

The Bowlers' Full House Club goes back to 1960, when my late father - IVAN SOUTHWOOD, manufactured a tie for the benefit of the bowlers who scored the "perfect fluke". Since then, of course, the ladies felt they needed a brooch, as they too scored the "Full House" in the course of their games as well. nowaydays the emblem is an "8" badge, which in modern-day terms is non-sexist! Some bowlers are trying to get their badges to meet around their hatbands, and after many years of Bowls, some are still trying for the coveted "8" badge. Some get lucky in their first few months of bowls, some also say that the Full House is only scored in a "bad" game of bowls (but they are probably the ones who conceded the eight!) There is also some doubt whether ANY old game of bowls qualifies fo an "8" badge - I say "Yes!", simply because scoring ALL the shots in an end is a remarkable achievement in any circumstances, so I usually recommend to those players picking up an eight in important events like the Nationals, get a local jeweller to put a scroll underneath, saying "1999 Nationals", "Free State All-comers", Natal Fours Champs" etc ....., thus making the award "special".

We can also make up a set of Cuff-links for special presentations.

Please remember that the person submitting the card for a first-time achiever has the evidence in front of him/her, but when players apply for the "Gold" badge for second time achievers, we require the application on a Club Letterhead AND CONFIRMATION that at least one Silver badge is in evidence - and there is NO NEED to return the old ones.
